Texas state history curriculum for 4th grade elementary students.
My Texas presents the history of the Lone Star State in a student-friendly, informal style that does not intimidate or repel young readers and works well in both classroom and homeschool environments. A special effort is made to relate events in Texas history to the broader history of the United States. Events are seen as living and potentially life-changing experiences from which we can all learn. The people whose experiences and decisions changed our state and nation also come to life. Their story is told as it happened. In accordance with our guiding principles My Texas history curriculum is a geographically balanced study that recognizes America's multi-cultural, multi-ethnic heritage and geographical diversity.
The My Texas program is excellent for homeschooling or independent study and works as well at home as in the classroom. The unique format makes My Texas ideal for students working alone or at their own pace. Each issue includes a versatile collection of student activities, projects, and exercises eliminating the need for additional expenses. While written for fourth grade readers the lesson series has also been used successfully with ESL and academically challenged students. The curriculum is supported by an extensive teacher's manual loaded with helps, activities, maps, copy masters, student responses, and additional testing opportunities.
